I’ve dedicated the last 15 years of my life to bettering food manufacturing operations and studying how culture affects food safety performance. I’m proud to hold a Ph.D. in Culture Enabled Food Safety and to have created an incredible network of worldwide collaborators within the food supply chain.
I had no idea that one day I would be involved so intimately in this often lack-luster industry, but after 11 years with Maple Leaf Foods—including the uphill battle to regain consumer trust following the 2008 tragedy that killed 23 people—my life purpose shifted. At the time, I was in charge of food safety and operations learning strategies. It took a lot of introspection, questioning and scrutiny to turn Maple Leaf around. A little more every day, we transformed its culture from the inside out.
Cultivate is my business and the services we offer stem from a history of trials and tribulations. I don’t pretend to know everything because every day, I’m learning from the people I work with. I make mistakes and have moments of self-doubt just like everyone else. John has been in the primary technical role at Land O' Frost for over 40 years. In 2010 he founded "Food Safety by Design, LLC" and offers his extensive experience to food safety culture, preventative controls, and management of environmental pathogens.
Land O' Lakes
Sara has over 30 years of practical food safety leadership and currently Vice President of Product Safety, Quality and Regulatory Affairs at Land O' Lakes and renown for her vast amount of publications on challenges for food safety in the 21st century.
Dave's experience cuts across agricultural production, the animal feed sector, meat processing, and food ingredient manufacturing. Dave is currently Director of Global Food Safety Risk Management at Cargill and engaged with various intergovernmental standards setting bodies.
Dr. Payton Pruett
Payton has been with Kroger Companies since 2005 as Vice President Food Technology and Regulatory Compliance. Payton has extensive experience in food safety from ConAgra Foods and Silliker Laboratories and serves on the GFSI board of directors.
John has over 44 years of experience in the food industry with Oscar Mayer/Kraft Foods and Miniat, LLC. John runs the consultant agency "Weisgerber Consulting" and renowned for his expertise in development, teaching, and publishing on Listeria control.
With more than 30 years of experience in the food industry Holly worked with SaraLee, ConAgra, and Fona Ingredients before joining Alchemy Systems as Product Manager. Holly's passion for food safety brought her the SQFI Outstanding Achievement Award in 2013.
